  • Spring Beauties

We've been enjoying warm spring weather. It's like we skipped spring and went straight to summer.

I just posted more pictures on Facebook. (I just want to be a little bit more cautious about posting pics here, so please befriend me on Facebook to see the rest).

    Prayer Requests:
    1. Please pray for Katy's skin. It's been really bad lately and the medicine only works for a day or two. But because of the side effects, we can't use it too often.
    2. Pray for our friend's mom who broke her hip while she's visiting from the US. They will try to fix it here. Hopefully, she'll be fine in time for her flight home sometime next week.

I want to leave you with the great words to one of my favorite modern hymns, "How Deep The Father's Love For Us." Every time I hear this song, I can't help but be overwhelmed with gratitude for God's abounding love for us. The depth of His love is only realized through understanding the sacrifice and worthiness of Christ.

How deep the Father's love for us,
    How vast beyond all measure
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure

How great the pain of searing loss,
The Father turns His face away
As wounds which mar the chosen One,
    Bring many sons to glory

Behold the Man upon a cross,
    My sin upon His shoulders
Ashamed I hear my mocking voice,
    Call out among the scoffers

It was my sin that held Him there
    Until it was accomplished
His dying breath has brought me life
I know that it is finished

I will not boast in anything
No gifts, no power, no wisdom
But I will boast in Jesus Christ
    His death and resurrection

Why should I gain from His reward?
    I cannot give an answer
But this I know with all my heart
His wounds have paid my ransom

    Have a wonderful Resurrection Sunday.

  • Nina, can you get flaxseed oil there? We've been giving Trevor that for awhile now and his skin is so much better. I don't know that that is the reason, but it certainly can't hurt. I'm so sorry to hear she is suffering :( We'll pray for her tonight -Trevor has great empathy for people with the itchies!

  • @jfsoo - Hi, Jen. thank for the info. Do you apply the flaxseed oil on the skin or does he take it internally? If he does take it, how much do you give him? I will look for it here.

  • @ninasblog - Nina, we give it to him in his cereal in the morning, about 1 tsp. You can also apply it topically but he didn't like the slickness - if he was as bad as Katie maybe he wouldn't mind!! I'm not sure it would be readily available in Europe as it goes rancid quickly. Check out this site: http://www.askdrsears.com/html/4/T041700.asp. I also learned at the health food store that many places will sell it unrefrigerated or in clear bottles and you should avoid those.

In theory, the actual flaxseeds should do the same thing, I think - maybe that would be easier to obtain. Also, I heard fish oil is good...just google "flaxseed eczema" - I found a lot of info.

hope you find something! we prayed for Katie last night!!
